What is the Smart-Meter for?

The Smart-Meter is an energy metering device installed at the site’s AC grid entry point. The role of the meter is to monitor and report real time energy consumption of the site. This measurement is sent to the IMEON inverter via a wired connection.
When the IMEON inverter receives information from the Smart-Meter, it responds by injecting power to AC Grid, corresponding to the real time energy consumption measured by the meter. The injected power would come from your solar installation and / or the battery, the renewable sources would therefore be used to offset the consumption from AC Grid as close to 0W as possible (within the power rating of the IMEON), without exporting power to the grid.
For example, if the installed IMEON is a 3kW single phase unit and that:
• the consumption measured by the Smart-Meter is 4kW,
• the solar installation produces 2kW,
• the battery can supply 1kW,

The IMEON will inject 3kW (solar + battery production, limited by power rating of the inverter) to AC Grid. The additional power of 1kW will be withdrawn from the electricity network.

Can I install Imeon hybrid inverters in parallel?

I need back-up functionality, can I use my Imeon as an UPS?

IMEON inverters come with an integrated AC back-up Output for essential loads. If the appliances are connected to this output, they will continue to be powered by the solar system (during the day) and the batteries (if they are charged) during power cuts. Attention, the total load connected to this output must necessarily be lower than the rated output power of the IMEON inverter.

The site is consuming 10kW at peak, can I still use your 3kW single phase Imeon 3.6 inverter?

In this scenario, you can use IMEON 3.6 installed in parallel to grid with Smart meter. In this configuration, only the “AC grid” connector of the IMEON inverter is used. The IMEON will attempt to provide the maximum power from solar panels and the battery and the complementary power will be taken from the grid. At peak consumption at 10kW, the IMEON will provide up to 3kW and the missing 7kW will be provided by the grid. In this configuration, it is always possible to use the output AC backup output of the IMEON keeping in mind that total connected load must be lower than 3kW.

It’s not possible to install the inverter in series to grid in this scenario (see IMEON installation guide). The total load connected to the AC Backup output must be lower than the rated power of the IMEON (3kW for IMEON 3.6). It is therefore not possible to connect 10kW to this output.

What is the max load I can connect the Imeon to?

For loads connected to the AC Grid, there is no limitation.
For loads connected to AC Backup Output (essential loads output) the max load must not exceed inverter’s power rating, thus 3kW for IMEON 3.6 and 3kW per phase for IMEON 9.12.

The solar inverter indicates fan failure

Make sure that the solar inverter fans turn freely and cool the system properly. The solar inverter must be installed in a well-ventilated, dry and dust-free room. Dust reduces the performance of the solar inverter and may cause internal heating and fire.

The LCD screen of the hybrid inverter is blank

Check if pressing any button activates the backlight of the LCD screen.

If the display does not switch on:

Disconnect all power sources Grid Connection, AC Backup Output, DC Battery and PV Input. Wait 15 minutes before connecting only the public grid to the Grid Connection socket. The display will switch on after 3 seconds.

When IMEON inverters are connected to the internet, the warranty period is 10 years, allowing for an optional extension up to 20 years.
